I don't believe it is possible to do this. Assuming you're on Linux or macOS, Rancher Desktop works by running docker, k8s etc inside a Linux VM. The distro we run for that VM is Alpine Linux, which is based on busybox. There are no alternative VMs unfortunately
If you want you can open an issue on github, but I'm not sure when we would get to this
