Yeah, I've used that flag already (
embedded-cluster-api=false
), but it doesn't actually stop the mutating/validating webhooks from being deployed.

ah. well probably can't remove that because rancher will just put it back. Sometime this fall hopefully they will release a new updated capi in rancher

I'm only using Rancher for dashboarding/visibility of clusters, as well as rbac access. I won't be provisioning clusters through Rancher at all; we rely on Cluster-API for that 😉

Right now Rancher doesn't support capi outside its installation.

Well the fact that you can disable the embedded capi does suggest it should be able to coexist 🙂 But the webhooks are breaking CAPI; current issues only introduced in 2.7.x even...
I'll ask around in the capr channel, they surely have required knowhow to deal with the webhooks. Thanks for the suggestion!
