if we just kill the containerd process, will it pick the mirror ? want to avoid whole RKE2 restart

no. if you kill containerd, it will cause rke2 itself to fail and restart.
What about restarting RKE2 are you trying to avoid? It doesn’t take down workload pods when restarting.

We are bundling kubernetes (RKE2) along with our product and we want to add a new mirror without customer being aware of. We are automating adding mirror via system-upgrade-controller but we want to avoid restarting RKE2 because RKE2 restart may or may not be successful due to various reasons
