I don't have Rancher installed right now, but when you set up the downstream cluster, you can choose to bypass tls checking if that's what you mean.

that's the option I was thinking about. when I trained students on Rancher, that's what we used to be able to create downstream clusters without needing to worry about setting up certificates, etc.
