As in it doesn't boot at all or it doesn't do anything when booted?
If it doesn't even get to the grub menu, I would guess that you have your VM to boot in legacy mode instead of UEFI. Elemental only supports UEFI booting

Got it working, need to figure out what i have been doing wrong..
I am trying to identify what the difference is between VmWare settings. I have created a VM using Suse Enterprise Linux settings and then everything works from start. But when i create a new VM with a type other and configure it with uefi / secure boot etc it does not boot

Elemental does use the same kernel as SLES by default - so that would make sense.
