👋 Maybe someone has knowledge, is there a way to speed up the launch of the Rancher Desktop application on MacOS M1? Yes,
limactl start ...
seems to take the most time. I'm just interested in possible optimisations since Docker and Podman Desktop start up faster. Giving the default VM resources on a fresh install, I repeated launches several times and got the following results: • Docker - 6 seconds, Podman - 19 seconds, Rancher - 37 seconds. P.S. I just was waiting for
docker/podman ps
to return results Thank you in advance!

Did you disable kubernetes?
That's probably the biggest win I get. You can of course adjust the number of CPUs and amount of RAM for the VM, but I don't use Rancher for giant things and am happy with its defaults there.

Yeah, I have set k8s disabled. Playing with VM resources did not changed the time. As I saw 25s spends only on booting the guest OS. Of course, this is not a problem for my workflow, it's just that my teammate noticed it and I double-checked.

And which version?
I suppose you could look at
~/Library/Logs/rancher-desktop/lima.log
to get a sense of what's expensive...
