Will my replicas be sensibly, automatically distributed? How can I verify this? I am testing my understanding of replicas. Suppose I have two nodes each having a single fast disk and two slow disks. I have defined a storage class for each: fast-ephemeral, slow-durable. To suit this use case, I set two replicas for the fast-ephemeral class, and four for the slow-durable class. Is it correct to expect LongHorn to place two slow-durable replicas on each node on different disks automatically, and one fast-ephemeral replica on each node? Thank you your time.

i.e., will I get one appropriately-placed replica per disk?

IIUC, there is only one replica on a node for a volume.

I think that means I'll see "degraded" for volumes that use a storage class that desires more replicas than there are nodes. Therefore, for my scenario, two replicas for each class is best, and LongHorn will place the slow-durable replica for each node in one of the two available, selected disks.

Yes, that’s it.
