Unfortunately the quality of virus scanners is pretty poor nowadays, as the field is flooded with "heuristics" and "machine learning" scanners that will initially flag each new release. For a while it was enough for program to be compiled from C++ to be classified as Gen:Variant.Tedy. The vendors are just out-sourcing the training and white-listing of false positives to their users.
