I followed this guide to create a node template in rancher

I run rancher container in my management vm as single container

I used ubuntu 22.04 cloud template

It is failing while trying to connect nodes via ssh

I can successfully login from management vm to kube nodes

how I can solve that issue?

Hello all, upgrading to Rancher 2.5.16, and K8s v1.20.15 - I’m seeing an issue using my existing vSphere Storage Class when provisioning new volumes:

SharedHost.getSharedDatastore: unable to find any shared datastores

Any ideas? I’m using the in-tree cloud provider.

I will add this was working just great in K8s v1.18.20 - and we are on vSphere 7. But as you can see, our clusters are in need of some updating..

Hello there! I'm trying to configure cloud-config on rancher to use with vsphere Most things work but I can't set my specific network configuration I tried to paste this into the Node Template #cloud-config box and also into an extra parameter called guestinfo.metadata base64 encoded

Is this because my “local” internal to the Rancher container cluster is also not showing?

Currently trying to provision an rke2 cluster via rancher mgmt console in vsphere. Cluster is stuck in a state “waiting for viable unit node” cannot see any reason for this error. Anyone got an ideas?

Randomly started getting an error when tryin to create a cluster in vsphere When it’s uploading the cloud-unit.iso it says Error creating machine: Error in driver during machine creation:500 internal server error

FYI: I just found out that deploying rke2 on vcenter via rancher needs more permissions than deploying a rke1 cluster... anyone else faced this ?

Hello, I am having a bit of trouble getting the latest 2.5.1 version of the vsphere-csi driver installed through the Rancher Marketplace to support or provide support for snapshots and curious if anyone has gotten this to work or integrate with backup providers that are looking for this support? The CPI/CSI installs ok and I can create PVC's from the storageclass that is created, but it doesn't seem like snapshotting is supported with this install even though the VMware docs seem to indicate it is supported in 2.5.0 and above. Hi, just set up a cluster with vsphere cpi/csi, volume creation works so all good on that part. I just wonder why does the Persisten Volumes Source shows that "CSI (Unsupported)"? The cluster was deployed as RKE2 Custom and Cloud Provider vSphere. I added the CPI parameters to the add-ons section. As I check the HelmCharts about the CPI and CSI they are the same as it would be added from the Built-in Rancher Apps. Is the source something to worry about is it just how it is?

Hello, we have a cluster deployed, k8s 1.22, when we are trying to make use of the vsphere CSI controller, we kept getting an i/o timeout when connecting to vsphere and the only way around it was to add our name server to the k8s netpol, obviously we dont want to do that, we deployed another test pod using the exact same netpol however we excluded the name server and it worked fine. We noticed that dnsPolicy on the vsphere CSI controller is Default, we updated that too ClusterFirst and could see the connection working as expected, however now the pods keep going into. CrashLoopBackoff with the following error: Still connecting to <unix///csi/csi.sock|unix///csi/csi.sock> Any ideas?

Is anyone here experimenting with BurmillaOS? I run using the vSphere node driver, and I think I’ve finally got a worker node boot-strapped into an RKE cluster provisioned by my Rancher server (running Rancher v2.5.16 with K8s v1.20.15 in testing)

Hello, was anyone successful in creating downstream RKE clusters using the VSphere Cloud Driver on a vSphere 8 environment? The rancher support matrix doesn’t seem to indicate vSphere 8 support(https://www.suse.com/suse-rancher/support-matrix/all-supported-versions/rancher-v2-7-0/). I’m having a particular issue where newly provisioned nodes from node pools never get powered on after being cloned from a template/VM. It seems like pod response indicates an HTTP 500 response. I couldn’t find a related GH issue. Would like to know if anyone else was successful with a vSphere 8 deployment.

Hi there, just starting of with Rancher. Deployed it on top of vsphere. Trying to configure storage class for the cluster . Seems to be failing when done as per documentation. Can someone suggest on how to fix the issue or point to the right documentation ?
