Hi everyone, According to this, rancher desktop is using the port 9443. I have a different service running which also uses the port 9443 and I cannot change the port on which that service is running. Is there a way to configure rancher desktop to use a different port instead of 9443 ?

Hi everyone, I have another problem with rancher desktop. I am using a custom kubeconfig to reach a remote cluster, which i put in the .kube folder, in order to not have to write --kubeconfig for my kubectl commands. I have noticed that this does seem to break the local rancher desktop dashboard. Is there an issue with this? Am I doing something wrong? I thought putting another kubeconfig in there shouldn't break stuff, because rancher desktop seems to natively support switching contexts

Hello all, I’m new to this workspace here - driven by desperation. I’m running Rancher Desktop on a Mac (12.6.3) to get access to Docker. Months ago it took me almost an eternity to get it running smoothly… and now, since yesterday, I get this error message on startup (actually, I don’t want to run Kubernetes at all… I just want to use Docker 😞 )

fail. I already understand, that it is not a DNS problem, since then

When starting up, I'm encountering the following: Error: connect ETIMEDOUT 172.24.87.79:6443 This only happens when connected to VPN. Do I need to set proxy? If so, please advise how/where.

Attempting to build rancher-desktop from source on macos, and got to the step in the README to

npm run build

and then look in

dist

, but nothing in dist appears to be a binary. Seems another step or two are missing.

oh cool, dev build appears to have fixed issues with bind-mounts, at least the container www-data (33) user can read/write a mounted file owned by my host userid (503). is that a change in rancher-desktop or lima? and, when do new releases typically come?

Hello. Im using AlmaLinux 8.7 with kernel 6.2.2 and installed rancher-desktop-linux-v1.7.0. However, it doesnt quite work. It fails because it cant find qemu-system-x86_64. Now I have linked /usr/local/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 to /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm but then it cant find firmware. If I edit ~/.lima/0/lima.yaml and change legacyBIOS: to true it kinda works if I run manually, but in a broken state as the rancher-desktop GUI isnt aware of it. ./rancher-desktop command will always fail even that legacyBIOS is set to true -- "limactl exited with code 1". Any suggestions of howto fix this?

But I'm on Windows, what would the correct path on Windows be? I think it could be

%appdata%/rancher-dekstop/

but there's no Lima folder in there, should I just create it?

well, somehow managed to get what appears as a hang, but really it's just slow doing something. Activity monitor not high, Managed to ssh into it, pressing return a couple of times shows no response for several seconds. Any logs that might prove useful?

Hello 👋 Just a quick check... has anyone managed running multi-node local k8s deployment with LoadBalancer + Ingress ( any of them, like MetalLB + Emissary ) on ARM Mac ( m1, m2 ) ? Asking for the well known obstacle of being unable to access container private IP ( hence the MetalLB assigned IP ) due to Lima networking limitations... Docker for Mac had a nice service solving this issue, but haven't been able to find anyhting like it for Rancher Desktop... Any solutions, ideas, or pointing in possibly right direction ? 😅

Auto-update to version 1.8 will be enabled on Monday. If you want to upgrade earlier, you have to install manually from the Github releases page. Note that the ZIP file for macOS on M1 was broken and has been replaced maybe an hour ago. No other file should have been affected (i.e. the DMG for M1 was the correct version).

Hello, Wondering if anyone has any ideas on the issue I'm seeing with RancherDesktop with Dockerd. Initially installed 1.7, installed 1.8 today. Trying to run/debug an AWS Lambda and the process either hangs after "Picked up __JAVA__OPTIONS" step or fails with a ClassNotFoundException. The sam build command succeeds, and the artifacts are generated in the output directory (under my user directory) and are then mounted to /var/task in the container. Inspecting that directory in the rancher-desktop container shows that nothing is there and thus the class not found when trying to execute. I was initially thinking the mount was failing due to a permissions issue, but the container information shows the mount as successful. I've been googling and looking at stack overflow threads for several days now to no avail. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
