I apologize if this questions has already been answered. I just recently joined this slack channel. I am using Windows Rancher Desktop (v1.7.0) with WSL to develop a local Kubernetes cluster (v1.25.5) with pods the need to federate a projected service account to a managed identitiy in Azure. I have generated RSA public/private key files, which will be used by the Kubernetes API server to sign the projected service account token and by Azure to verify the token's signature. For this, I created a provisioning script that 1. generates a config.yaml file in the /etc/rancher/k3s directory to configure the k3s kube-apiserver service, 2. copies the RSA public/private key files to the /etc/rancher/k3s/pki directory, 3. change the mode of the RSA key files to 644. When I start Rancher Desktop and review the k3s.log file, the kube-apiserver service tries to start with the updated service-account-* command line arguments. However, the kube-apiserver service writes this error to the log, "Error: failed to parse service-account-issuer-key-file: open "/etc/kubernetes/pki/sa.key": no such file or directory". I have opened the rancher-desktop WSL distro and verified that I can read both key files at their specified locations. I have also tried placing the keys files in a /var/lib/rancher/k3s/server/pki directory. However, the kube-apiserver service throws the same error. Unfortunately, I have not found much on the internet for a go-forward path. Am I trying to do something that Rancher Desktop cannot do at this time? Should I write the RSA keys to a different directory?

Hello!! Apologies if this was already answered here. I am using Windows Rancher Desktop v1.7.0. The Network status is Offline. I checked logs. All are clean. I couldn't locate any preferences/configuration settings to set proxy. If I turn off machine proxy, • Rancher Desktop clearly says unable to reach internet. If machine proxy is On, • Rancher Desktop does not complain about anything except Network Status being offline. • However, It's not able to download k3s into cache directory. • It's not able to download kubectl. This is NOT an airgapped installation. How to make network status as online? How to troubleshoot? Any pointers/directions would be very helpful. Thank you!!

Hi All, I am trying to install TOBs on my rancher desktop, the pod is giving Insufficient memory error while scheduling How can i increase the memory for cluster? I have tried increasing the memory from UI (Preferences > VM > Memory) But this didn't help Can someone please help me with this? Thanks

Hi there, just playing with Rancher Desktop on Windows, and I can't get the menu Kubernetes Settings. I enabled the firewall setting for WSL, I have 2 distros via WSL (SLES and Ubuntu), Kubernetes seems to be installed properly, I enabled Hyper-V and all that... and yet, there is no Kubernetes Settings menu. Any ideas? THanks!

Hi, guys I build a registry with tls 1.3 by docker registry, and nerdctl login/pull has worked. But when i build docker-registry-web in RD, then access docker-registry-web UI, the following error prompt appears:

I/O error on GET request for "<https://10.10.10.151:30000/v2/_catalog?n=100>":Received fatal alert: protocol_version; nested exception is <http://javax.net|javax.net>.ssl.SSLException: Received fatal alert: protocol_version.

How should i do? Thanks

Hi All,

I installed Rancher Desktop on a MacOS Monterey. Diagnostic says there are no problems. But when I issue a docker command, e.g. docker help, it just hangs forever. My Container Engine is set to 'containerd' and 'kubectl' command is working fine. Anyone knows what is wrong here? Thanks.

RD v1.7.0, I can't to build a statefulset using gui. the listbox of [service name] always be “sorry， no matching options”. But it can editing yaml file to build. Bug? Thanks

RD 1.7.0 running on Ubuntu Linux.

/home

partition is getting full but

/var

partition is relatively empty, so I moved

/home/<ME>/.local/share/rancher-desktop/

into

/var

and made a sym-link back into

/home/<ME>/.local/share/

. Starting RD it hangs waiting for the kubernetes API to be available. Move it all back and it works again. So, is there a correct way to move the massive lima disk out of my home partition?

Freeing up resources in my harvester cluster (and keeping rancher manager 'off-cluster' so I am using RD on Win11 and following the Rancher Manager on Rancher Desktop official documentation (a bit outdated as I have to set my kubernetes version in RD lower to allow Rancher manager latest to install) and I can not reach that workload and it seems to break my certificate to allow my Lens IDE to connect. Wondering if anyone has run into something similar. Details coming as a thread.

I'm trying to run Rancher Desktop 1.7.0 on Mac 12.6.2(Monterey) and when I open UI, I see error below. I tried to resolve by granting permissions on the dir but issue is not resolved. Is there a solution?

Hey y'all - just kinda curious what Desktop's release cycle is like. I'm looking forward to trying out Virtiofs on my M1 Mac, and the nightly I tried didn't seem to work so well, so I figure I should wait until a release. Is there a general cadence, or is it more of a "we like to release every so often, but we release when it's done"?

Hi folks, we were investigating if we can move from Docker Desktop to Rancher Desktop and we ran into weird issue when building docker image for Rails server where we use paid

which we're passing and the same build command works when building in Docker Desktop context, would anyone have a clue what might be happening?
