Is there a migration path from Legacy UI and apps when upgrading to Rancher 2.7+ ? Recently updated our Rancher instance from 2.6.9 to 2.7.1 and after the update i could no longer update or install new Apps (see my post here https://rancher-users.slack.com/archives/C3ASABBD1/p1678375641294189) I’m guessing i need to migrate away from the Legacy Multi-Cluster Apps here but can’t find any docs on it? Also some page broke in Rancher, like Continuous Delivery failed to load

Hey, Can someone advise on the minimum version required for RKE and Rancher to support Kubernetes (v 1.22.16), we have the following versions of RKE and Rancher currently and planning to upgrade K8s from v1.21.14 to v1.22.16: RKE: v1.21.7-rancher1-1 (terraform-provider-rke) Rancher: v2.5.11 I tried to upgrade both RKE and Rancher in the Test environments but it's getting stuck with errors, thus need to know whether the upgrade is required for these or if these versions can support K8s 1.22 Thanks in advance! 🙏

Hello everyone... Here’s a quick question if someone has experience with this or any know-how, Is there a way to manually add additional server to cloud provider provisioned cluster ? Basic idea is that we’ve created 3 node cluster through rancher on XY provider and now we’d like to do some custom server tweaks and join that additional node manually using join command. I’ve tried straightforward setup by running join command but on the node, agent starts and simply hits timeout and hangs, while rancher says it’s waiting for node registration.

Hi everyone, I am trying to install rancher using helm on EKS. I am using AWS acm certificate on nginx-ingress-controller directly using annotation. After deployment I can access DNS name to reach nginx controller and it shows certificate is working as seen below:

But when I install rancher for next step using helm, the url stops working and it is not accessing. tried to do

kubectl port svc/rancher 8080:80

but url keeps redirecting to port

e.g

localhost:8080

localhost:8443

Hello. Im using AlmaLinux 8.7 with kernel 6.2.2 and installed rancher-desktop-linux-v1.7.0. However, it doesnt quite work. It fails because it cant find qemu-system-x86_64. Now I have linked /usr/local/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 to /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm but then it cant find firmware. If I edit ~/.lima/0/lima.yaml and change legacyBIOS: to true it kinda works if I run manually, but in a broken state as the rancher-desktop GUI isnt aware of it. ./rancher-desktop command will always fail even that legacyBIOS is set to true -- "limactl exited with code 1". Any suggestions of howto fix this?

is there a specific support channel for k3s? Navigating all the compatibility matrices. I have determined the following: Harvester 1.1.1 requires rancher 2.6.9 Rancher 2.6.9 requires k3s 1.20 to 1.24 K3s is certified on ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04 Since the latest stable of k3s in 1.22.3 I am installing it on Ubuntu 20.04 and it can't seem to download the hash. curl -sfL https://get.k3s.io | INSTALL_K3S_VERSION=v1.22.3 sh - [INFO] Using v1.22.3 as release [INFO] Downloading hash https://github.com/k3s-io/k3s/releases/download/v1.22.3/sha256sum-amd64.txt curl -k https://github.com/k3s-io/k3s/releases/download/v1.22.3/sha256sum-amd64.txt Not Found Why is it so hard to get a Rancher Manager installed to manage kubernetes nodes on a harvester cluster? I feel I'm about to ask a stupid question, but I couldn't find the answer... Why not use Rancher only on my local environment, and have the downstream Kubernetes cluster running my production workloads in the cloud? How would Rancher not being always available affect my production workload?

Hi everyone. i'm trying to add a windows node to an rke2 cluster. it seems like the way to do this is to make a custom cluster, and add nodes using the registration. my current cluster is rke2 created by the Harvester Cloud provisioner. is there a way to add a windows node to that? i also tried to create a new custom cluster, but i cant seem to figure out how to get the Harvester CSI to work with it. the initial node never bootstraps if i set the Cloud Provider to Harvester, and the also tried adding the Harvester CSI APP but it doesnt seem to be able to provision volumes in harvester for me. any pointers?

Hey, I have 3 nodes with k3s on, 2 worker and 1 control. I installed Longhorn and mostly chose the default for cluster storage. I’m wondering what defines the Total storage which shows? Each node has 50GB disks in and nothing else really installed, so I am curious why there is only 201GB showing?

Hi, actually I have installed k3s with 1.21 version. and it is always up and running fine. but whenever system gets reboot. K3S is getting broken. and getting below issue Connection to the server 127.0.0.1:6443 was refused can you please let me know the reason behind this

I’d like to access this cluster both internally and later externally. Currently all nodes are all on the same lan and running on bare metal installs of Oracle 9.1. All have internal IP’s on my lan.

Hi Team, I am currently exploring around creating custom cluster through Rancher. Provided the cluster name and wanted to bring up the cluster with my own CNI which is not present in the list provided by Rancher. Using “Edit as YAML” option, modified the value of plugin “*plugin: none”* and added the list of yaml files using addons_include option: addons_include: - /home/ubuntu/cm.yaml - - The above yaml files are the ones required to bring up my custom CNI. But observing an issue in the provision logs [ERROR] [addons] Unable to determine if /home/ubuntu/cm.yaml is a file path or url, skipping The yaml files are present in the VM where the Rancher docker image is spawned up. Please help me in fixing this issue to deploy the yaml files.

Hi I have a question regarding the --set additionalTrustedCAs=true tag for the helm rancher deployment. I am trying to use a custom rancher template to deploy a cluster and download some things from a private registry, in order to do this I require a CA cert. When experimenting in using this tag, I added the CA secret and it doesn't seem that the CA certificate is propagated to the cluster and node. Is this the expected behaviour ?

Is there some way to kick out traefik in favor of good old nginx? I tried to remove the helm chart in kube-system, but next moring it was back and caused problems. 😞 traefik was selected at install time of the managed cluster as the default ingress.

Hey, I have some troubles with permissions to mounted folders in Rancher Desktop. I would like to try out this fix: https://github.com/rancher-sandbox/rancher-desktop/issues/1209#issuecomment-1370181132 which mentions making a file in

~/Library/Application\ Support/rancher-desktop/lima/_config/override.yaml:

But I'm on Windows, what would the correct path on Windows be? I think it could be

%appdata%/rancher-dekstop/

but there's no Lima folder in there, should I just create it?
