Hi, I am using RKE but Suse's naming conventions make me a bit confused, Rancher, rke, rke2... "rke version" thros "Running RKE version: v1.3.11 " Is that rke1 or rke2? Also when running ruke, after nodes upgrade to ubuntu 22.04, I am getting "Unsupported Docker version found [23.0.0] on host [167.235.8.62], supported versions are [1.13.x 17.03.x 17.06.x 17.09.x 18.06.x 18.09.x 19.03.x 20.10.x]" Shall I upgrade to anothe version of rke or it would be better downgrade docker?

Hello everyone. We had migrated Helm from v2 to v3 some time ago and are currently on Rancher v2.5.9. Now by chance we noticed that Rancher still starts 'rancher-helm' (Helm v2 of cattle) and 'rancher-tiller' after certain intervals and installs old apps that we had deleted before migration. Can anyone give us hints how to find the resources and definitions that forces Rancher to start Tiller again? Or how we can force Rancher not to start Tiller? (There is no deployed instance of Tiller in the HA-cluster. Anyway, Tiller and rancher-helm are executable within the Rancher-container, but rancher-helm can't find Tiller.)

still trying to get rancher manager running on a separate server from my harvester 1.1.1 cluster and had problems getting letsencrypt w/ cloudflare DNS-01 challenge working so I'm going back to a single node k3s running on ubuntu 20.04. I am going to use rancher manager 2.6.9 as I had it working at one point running in harvester on an ubuntu 20.04 docker install without having problems as described in: https://github.com/rancher/rancher/issues/40743 but I am still trying to find the right k3s release to use that is compatible with 2.6.9 curl -sfL https://get.k3s.io | VERSION=v1.23.10+k3s1 INSTALL_K3S_EXEC="--tls-san xyz.com" sh - can't find that release so defaults to v1.25.6+k3s1 Anyone have a proper guide to running a compatible rancher manager with a harvester 1.1.1 cluster?

Hi all - I'm seeing many Charts in my Rancher install, but those that are not Rancher provided do not show a nice form when configuring those apps. I only see an "Edit YAML" button and this makes things more difficult for example when trying to set Longhorn as the storage backend. Could someone kindly let me know how I can fix this?

Hello I have just installed Rancher on a windows machine for the first time with WSL2. - I've tried many things but still have the following error in the diagnostics

The WSL kernel does not appear to be installed.

- And when I run docker-compose up

open //./pipe/docker_engine: The system cannot find the file specified." module=api status_code=-1

error during connect: this error may indicate that the docker daemon is not running

Hi Rancher Team, I'm testing RKE and RKE2. RKE2 comes with nginx as the default ingress controller. Some application developers are arguing the toss for Traefik. I've used Traefik before, so no objections from a technical point of view. But I imagine there's a reason the Rancher/RKE teams picked nginx to bundle in the build. Is there any documentation or blogs relating to the choice of nginx over others, as to why it's better for the RKE/Rancher environment?? Thanks

Hi Team, I am currently exploring Rancher project. I have created a VM, brought up RKE2 cluster and installed rancher through docker command on the same VM. Am able to access the UI. To import existing cluster created on the VM, followed the steps that UI suggested and observed that the “cattle-cluster-agent” pod going into crashloopbackoff state with the logs ERROR: https://127.0.0.1:8443/ping is not accessible (Failed to connect to 127.0.0.1 port 8443 after 0 ms: Connection refused) Could you please help me on how to resolve the same. Ok, in general is this at least a decent idea? I’ve got a single node docker Rancher Server, I realize it’s not very scalable or HA. So, can I use the single node Rancher Server to create a small K3s or RKE2 cluster and then launch a second Rancher server on that new K3s/RKE2 cluster?

And after trying it quickly in a test environment, I think the answer is no.

im having an issue authenticating with freeipa. it was previously working for a client and now it is not authenticating. it seems like the bind user/password is not getting updated in the config and still using an old password? what values need to be deleted to clear out all of the freeipa information so it can be setup fresh?

I've got Rancher 2.6.5. I'm trying to install the Helm repo from Gitlab (https://charts.gitlab.io) I added it in

Apps > Repositories

however I'm getting a "connection reset by peer" error. I can manually curl that URL from the management hosts. Any idea why I would be getting this error?

I’m troubleshooting my single node Rancher Server on docker - I’m tailing the logs and I’m getting a ton of:

error syncing 'fleet-default/custom-51bb6f1131b2': handler unmanaged-machine: Get <https://10.43.78.216/k8s/clusters/c-m-n7spxmpd/api/v1/nodes/mynode-cluster1-k8-02.local>"

But the part that is more concerning is that I’m getting this for different nodes in different clusters, they’re all sowing the same 10.43.78.216 IP

These machines that are being listed are all nodes, and they all appear to be communicating.

What could be going on?

Turns out when I rolled back to v2.6-head everything get’s resolved

hey folks, I have a quick question for a newbie. I have setup a 3 node k3s cluster on bare metal, with Oracle 9.1. I have one configured as master and the other two as workers (I beleive). I am only doing this for experience and tinkering with things at the moment. (I’m not too bothered about HA at this stage) I’d like to install Rancher to access the cluster. What is my best or simplest way to do it? I have another server on the network I use for other docker stuff, RHEL 9 and Podman etc. So I could use this? Or am I better installing on one of the nodes on the cluster? Thanks.!
