Hi All, iv update rancher from 2.5.15 to 2.6.6 and now I'm getting error when running kubectl --cluster=k8s-cluster cluster-info dump Error from server (Forbidden): userextras.authentication.k8s.io "local://XXX" is forbidden: User "systemserviceaccountcattle-impersonation-system:cattle-impersonation-XXXX" cannot impersonate resource "userextras/principalid" in API group "authentication.k8s.io" at the cluster scope the user is not the main admin but have admin permission

👋 Hi everyone! I installed Rancher Desktop for the first time yesterday and have started using it in my microservices setup. I was using docker desktop all this time until I decided to give Rancher a try. So, the services in my cluster have come up, however, there are two services which need to connect to an external postgres database. For this I created a service and its related endpoint associating the database name with the external ip. This is what my service and endpoint looks like:

I can clearly see that this endpoint shows up correctly and I even ran a netshoot pod in my namespace to ping that endpoint, and I'm able to do that correctly. However, the services in my namespace, they give error about failure to connect with the db. The same setup worked fine in the docker and KIND cluster. So I wanted to check if there's a way to expose an external database to be able to connect by the services running inside the cluster. Any help would be highly appreciated! Thanks, Asheesh

We had a working rancher 2.5.5 installation with several clusters. We recently upgraded to 2.6.6 and things seemed to transition ok. When trying to create a new cluster, they all seem to get stuck in a provisioning state. I Can't seem to get any nodes to register anymore.

Has anyone successfully deployed nexus with helm into K3s and exposed it to be accessible on a web browser ? I have nexus pods running but the web app is not accessible yet...unsure if it's a load balancer issue with traefik or if I need to install nginx

ok everyone, I decided to reinstall rancher server and perform the server-url change documentation from scratch according to https://www.suse.com/support/kb/doc/?id=000020173 when I perform the

helm get values rancher -n cattle-system

I only receive this output USER-SUPPLIED VALUES: bootstrapPassword: admin hostname: rancher.00.00.00.161.sslip.io replicas: 1 and no rancher image tag to be able to perform the rest of the steps. Is there any better guide on how to do this? Why is this such an issue?

I just upgraded Rancher from 2.6.3 to 2.6.6 and I'm getting the error:

[ERROR] error syncing 'c-489zg/default-token': handler cluster-registration-token: <http://clusters.management.cattle.io|clusters.management.cattle.io> "c-489zg" not found, requeuing

When I goto access Rancher, I get a 404

I'm also seeing:

[ERROR] Failed to connect to peer <wss://10.76.1.23/v3/connect> [local ID=10.76.5.10]: websocket: bad handshake

Oh, I guess the websocket one can be ignored

I haven't created any other clusters yet... what do I need to do to change the rancher server's url and update it's certificate (currently cert-manager)

or am i worried about nothing since I haven't created any new clusters yet? I just want to change the url from the terraform install of rancher server on SLES' sslip first install address to the DNS entry that I control. I just ran into so many problems the first time after I created new clusters (for obvious reasons) and want to do everything 'by the book' to change it right now before I create any new clusters. Any advice?

if you are changing the url, if possible its best to just rebuild the rancher server with the new url, it hooks in -a lot- of places even within etcd

what is the best way to do that... I just used prebuilt terraform files to do the install and this is an initial login (minus creating a new account and deactivating admin)?

in that case you could do a terraform destroy to tear down the old then do another terraform apply to create it with your new change

shrug, ok... I can go through the infra.tf and seeing how it obtains the IP assigned by GCP and crafts the name/IP. Thought there might be a simple way but after reading everything on-line, it looks way too complicated (although it shouldn't be) so maybe this is the best bet after all. Thanks for responding. #general - I am trying to upgrade an imported k3s cluster[v1.22.9 -> 1.23.6] from rancher 2.6.6 ui. My expectation was that it should install system-upgrade-installer and the expected plan. But there is no activity on the cluster. If I run the crds and the plan manually the version upgrades. Please let me know guys if i am missing something. The internet can be accessed via proxy server. The proxies are configured at VM and at the agent level.

The upgrade was successfull in case of Rancher created cluster. The previous one is stuck at upgrading state
