If I want to remove a cluster from a rancher server without uninstalling all of its fleet helm deployments, would it make sense to first delete its fleet agent, then the cattle agent and only then remove it from the rancher server?

Hi all. Trying to set up a Rancher Backup job. I have an S3 target configured, and am setting up an hourly backup of the rancher-resource-set, but Rancher keeps throwing an error: "You must define a ResourceSet in this namespace to create a backup CR." From what I am reading, this resource set should be auto-generated when I launch the Rancher Backup HELM chart, and need not be edited. Am I missing a step? I am following the guide here: https://rancher.com/docs/rancher/v2.6/en/backups/examples/#backup

There isn't enough documents in Rancher wiki for this part and when I set parametes for elastic search, noting will ship to ELK and its getting pain in the neck for my deployment

Our Rancher clusters were created not from RKE. I am storing my Rancher clusters etcd backups in S3 bucket. When I am trying to restore them, I am ending up in a problem. When I am using "rke up" and rke commands, it is popping up rke is not installed. When i tried to install rke in cluster CLI, there cluster.yaml file is not available. I can restore them ETCD backup's from rancher UI. But , I want to restore from backup's that are store in s3 bucket.

I have rancher 2.6 and after deployment in production environment, saw that node disk size getting full after 3 days. After, plenty of hours investigation found that the console log of nginx ingress node caused this problem. The problem was resolved after restart node but happened again I want to ask is there any way to limit console log size same as kubernetes default value 10mib? I temporary send nginx logs via syslog to prevent issue!! Thank you in advanced

I have to say.... for someone just learning k8s. Rancher makes it so much easier, being able to show me the yaml for each helm chart, showing the commands being executed, etc. Some may call it a 'crutch'. Which I would certainly agree with but it's also helping me learn if all I had was kubectl, kubeadm and helm... and all those other pesky things that get in the way, like a kernel and drivers and stuff 😛

I’ve setup ADFS authentication on Rancher (using Authentik) But when attempting to add users/groups to projects/namespaces the search isn’t working properly and I am unable to add users/groups. Any help?

I have my own gke sandbox that I've created and I'm following along with what rancher does. It's a great learning experience.

I'm sure it serves a purpose in it's own right but for me it's a way to test my knowledge with the basics.

installing istio is a nightmare. going to do that manually so I can see where helm is timing out.

I have configured FreeIPA as an authentication provider in Rancher v2.6.6. Esp. I have set "Allow any valid user" for the option "configure who should be able to login and use Rancher". Most of my users can login, but not all, so question is what is Rancher's understanding of a "valid user"?

Hi there. May somebody help me. I've a vert short experience with containerizing anything. But I'm needing run an openzipkin/zipkin image in my windows 10 laptop. Do you have any tutorial you can recommend me to understand how to deploy the zipkin on my local machine using Rancher Desktop on Windows 10? Thanks ✌️

Hi everyone - there used to be a nice way to add additional nodes to your cluster in Rancher, and that seems like it's gone in 2.6.6....any ideas how I go about adding a worker to my k3s cluster on Rancher 2.6.6?
