    Reposting here; it seems like there is not a lot of support in this slack workspace, wondering if there is a better place to ask such questions. https://rancher-users.slack.com/archives/C3ASABBMH/p1662055461346259

    anyone have a good reference to using cluster autoscaling with a GKE custom RKE2 cluster similar to https://docs.ranchermanager.rancher.io/v2.5/how-to-guides/advanced-user-guides/manage-cluste[…]ll-cluster-autoscaler/use-aws-ec2-auto-scaling-groups

    use case: I have had to move my lab to another gke cluster due to punishing my little Intel NUC running harvester and running into the same sort of issue deploying minio as some of my nodes due not meet the CPU requested. So I figure that would be a use case for either HPA or VPA. My immediate resolution would be to deploy other machine type nodes with higher CPU into the pool and then draining and decomming the older ones.... but playing with auto-scaling seems 'fun' 😉

    gonna watch a rancher labs master class about scaling kubernetes with host Connie Lin and Luther Monson and see if i learn a thing or two. Love the community information (including right here in slack). You guys are doing it right.

    learned a lot just from that master class. for example... cluster autoscaling not able to change a machine type (CPU/memory) as opposed to just adding/removing nodes based on pod requirements. My original plan seems more sound now.

    hello every1! I have a private nodes gke cluster with private endpoint that I'm trying to import to rancher v2.6.3. There's connectivity between the nodes' network and the rancher API, so the cattle-cluster-agent can contact our Rancher. But when I try to make the import the cluster agent gets stuck in this part:
    time="2022-11-15T19:15:22Z" level=info msg="Connecting to <wss://rancher-tv.corporativo.pt/v3/connect/register> with token starting with 5hc2nf4tpwcpcwgkqhx2hfxwsdx"
    time="2022-11-15T19:15:22Z" level=info msg="Connecting to proxy" url="<wss://rancher-tv.corporativo.pt/v3/connect/register>"
    So my question is… The GKE masters also need to connect to the rancher server? 'Cause I've eliminated everything else.

    If I have a Rancher server that's publicly available on the internet the import succeeds, even with a private cluster with private endpoint. But in this closed rancher server where the only conn is via (nodes in pods) > rancher it never works
