mode, what and where could I check to see what the problem is?

We have installed the Elemental operator (its running fine) and the Elemental Extension (1.2.0) on an EKS cluster. But when we navigate to the OS Management page we receive an error. I checked the Rancher Admin user and gave it the Elemental Administrator role. Any clue what could be wrong?

When installing the elemental Helm charts for the CRD’s and the Operator is there a difference in installing it via the GitHub repo so using for example: • https://github.com/rancher/elemental-operator/tree/v1.2.5/charts/crds • https://github.com/rancher/elemental-operator/tree/v1.2.5/charts/operator And the installation via the oci way? e.g. oci://registry.opensuse.org/isv/rancher/elemental/staging/charts/rancher/elemental-operator-chart In my usecase I am deploying Elemental using ArgoCd and the deployment using the oci way does not work well. So wondering if installing the crd and operator via GitHub is just as good?

I observe a difference when installing the Helm charts using the oci channel and for example pointing towards the raw tgz release.

Can i install the helm charts for the crds and the operator in another way then using the oci images?

In my current situation I have installed elemental using the default OCI images using Helm and an alternative using ArgoCD. It seems that the apps deployed using ArgoCD do not appear in the Rancher installed apps .. Bit lost on what is going on 🙂 Installation using ArgoCd and no apps appear.. Installation using native helm and the apps are there.. Namespaces are the same by the way..

Having figured all stuff out, I am only now still faced with the issue that the admin user is not allowed to view the dashboard in Rancher. Is there any checklist to see what the user permissions should be? So i can check what needs to be in place?

hey, i run into issues performing an OSUpdate in my airgapped elemental build. There is a condition before upgrade what is checking

systemctl is-system-running

of the system. The FORCE flag is not applied for this, is there a possibility to avoid this? When my node is in degraded state how can i fix it without OSupdate, so what is the reason to check for this condition? Hello, I am unable to install elemental extention using Rancher UI. hey, one question regarding installation hooks, is it correct that if i roll out a fix which is applied via installation hook i need to use e.g.

after-upgrade-chroot

so that this is apllied via OS Update. To have the same fix also in a new installation, i need the same hook also as

after-install-chroot

? So the same stuff in 2 hooks? Or in a simple question are

after-install-chroot

hooks ignored during os update? thanks for helping:)

hey, has anybody ever activated swap for elemental? I have tried several approaches with plans & cloud init stages but could not achieve a permanent working swap file yet. I am aware of kubernetes related issues for swap. But i still would prefer to have a swap as kubernetes is adding support for swap in newer versions.

I build an ISO and trying to boot an VM on Hyper-V. It do not work. I tried with VMware Workstation 15 it says no OS found. Any documentation or suggestions please.

I tried installing a Hyper-V VM with the vanilla teal iso. It works. Later used the elemental to install with the downloaded config.xml. Installation successful but after reboot the root password is changed and can't log in.

For smoke testing and e2e testing elemental iso as I understand you guys are using a nested virtualized enabled environment to execute qemu for installation elemental OS. Is there a place where I can get the elemental charts without using the OCI images?

When creating a custom image for elemental where should the registration yaml be placed? Tried to find it in the documentation but I seem to be unable to locate that information. I am trying to create a custom image by using Docker.

And place a registration yaml into the docker image and later on repackage it as an ISO

Hi, Is there public access to the Dockerfile used to build sle-micro-rancher or any kind of documentation to figure out which steps are taken? It is crucial for us to fully understand the system we ship. I found https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/isv:Rancher:Elemental:Stable:Teal53/node-image/Dockerfile?expand=1 but most of the crucial parts seems to happen before in sle-micro-rancher (e.g. elemtental init, installation of elemental-register, rancher-system-agent, aso.)
